Prem Lalwani Memorial
A Dedicated Hand Therapist, Mentor, Colleague, and Friend
Prem helped start the hand therapy clinic at Stanford University hospital in 1989/90 where he worked with many eminent hand surgeons. He taught and trained many other therapists, who have been writing to me these past two weeks to express their appreciation for how much he supported and mentored them. He also served for a couple years as the President of the American Society of Hand Therapy (ASHT) California Chapter, and supported continuing education efforts through numerous conferences he organized. He believed in service to others and in 2009, traveled on an Operation Rainbow humanitarian medical mission to Manta, Ecuador to conduct orthopedic surgical intervention and rehabilitation training.
People who got to know him over the years remember how he touched their lives with his healing hands, kindness, and his smile.
He will be missed by his family in USA and his four brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews in India. He went to India 3/4 times a year. He enjoyed his trips and was also happy to be back home. This time the highlight of his trip was meeting Swami Chidananda in Bombay.
He wrote to Swamiji at 5.01 PM. "I’m happy to be home, Sweet Home".
