Speaker 1: Dr. Robert Purchase

Physical Therapy and Shoulder Arthroplasty

I will present post-operative protocols for both the anatomic and reverse total shoulder and discuss the rationale for the protocols. This will include a review of current literature.

Learning objective include: Understanding shoulder arthroplasty basics, the surgical approach for anatomic TSA, the rationale for post-operative TSA protocol, the biomechanics of the reverses TSA, and the rationale for post-operative TSA protocol.

Speaker Bio:

My approach to patient care is rather simple, listen; engage; and educate. Simply put, I believe that a well-informed patient is the best patient and has the best chance to return to top form. As a prior collegiate football player and life-long athlete, I understand the importance of getting people back to the activities they love.

I am a board certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in surgery of the shoulder and knee. I utilize minimally invasive techniques to treat rotator cuffs, meniscus tears, ACL injuries, and many more. I perform total joint replacements of the shoulder and knee including the less invasive partial replacements. The care of complex traumatic injuries, fractures & tendon ruptures, is a core part of my practice as well.

Speaker 2: Ashim Bakshi
