Course objectives:
1. Describe the anatomy of the extensor mechanism
2. Recognize the history of the relative motion orthosis
3. Describe the quadriga effect and how it relates to use relative motion orthoses
4. Learn fabrication technique of the RME and RMF orthoses
5. Understand how injury at Zone III extensor tendon can lead to a boutonniere deformity
6. Learn fabrication or RMDH orthosis and alternative uses for this orthosis

Clyde graduated from Eastern Washington University with a degree in Physical Therapy in 1991 and received his Certified Hand Therapist credential in 2000.  He has a special interest in the design and fabrication of simple to complex custom orthoses, used for post-operative and conservative management of hand pathologies.  In addition to his clinical role, he is actively involved in peer education, presenting as guest faculty for upper extremity educational courses in the Seattle area since 2005.  His published contributions include lead author of a case study in the Journal of Hand Therapy and the “Hand Therapy” appendix in the third edition of the textbook “Principles of Hand Therapy and Rehabilitation.”

Clyde is a long-term resident of the Pacific Northwest who spends his spare time with his wife and three children.  He is an avid enthusiast of skiing, hiking, and cooking.
