  1. Present on grant-funded medical mission trip to Ecuador
  2. Discus barriers to hand therapy in developing countries
  3. Understand the role of the hand therapist in a team trip with ReSurge International

Presenter: Susan Clark, OTR/L, CHT

Susan Clark, OTR/L, CHT is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, has been a registered Occupational Therapist since 1979, and became a Certified Hand Therapist in 1994.  After retiring from Stanford Health Care in August of 2019 where she worked for 13 years, Sue moved to Colorado and has continued to practice part time in Golden, CO at Precision Plastic and Hand Surgery.  Her expertise is in treating sports injuries, tendon repairs, traumatic hand injuries, scleroderma, and arthritis.

Sue often lectures at state conferences and review courses, she presented a poster at the ASHT annual meeting in 2011 and 2017, was a member of the 2012 ASHT Annual Meeting committee and coordinated the 2013 ASHT hand therapy review course at Stanford.  She coauthored “Hand Therapy Modalities for Proximal Interphalangeal Joint Stiffness” for the Journal of Hand Surgery and has been a contributing editor to the Year Book of Hand and Upper Limb Surgery.  Sue has been involved with HTA-CA since its inception serving as the Conference Co-Chair for many years and currently as the marketing & vendor liaison.  She presented an AHST webinar on Scleroderma with Dr. James Chang, presented at the International Thumb Osteoarthritis Workshop in November 2018 at Stanford and was a lecturer at the Stanford Hand Surgery and Therapy Symposium at Tahoe in February 2019.  Her passion for hand therapy includes mentoring students, teaching orthosis fabrication, and organizing conferences and events.  Sue has had the opportunity to serve on numerous surgical team trips with ReSurge International to India, Tanzania, and most recently Ecuador.
