Hello HTA-CA!
Are you an Earth Day Advocate? Do you like cleaning up your local beaches and restoring them to their natural beauty? Are you interested in getting to know other hand therapy members outside of your clinic, classrooms and hospitals? Well then- we have an opportunity for YOU! See below from our Membership Coordinator, Kelly Trautman ( membership@hta-ca.org). She is gathering a group for April 19th!
I would like to organize a group of volunteers to do an Earth Day cleanup as a social meetup on Saturday, April 19th. There are lots of opportunities through the East Bay Parks system and I would like to organize a group for the Crown Beach Shoreline (in Alameda), though I know there are many local members in South Bay and the Peninsula that may not want to come to the East Bay. What does everyone think, would there be anybody interested in being part of an Earth Day cleanup meet up in another location, or is everyone ok with just having one location in Alameda?
I don’t even know if our members are interested in this type of event (lol I might end up out there cleaning up trash by myself), but I wanted to try something new that hasn’t been offered before since I’ve been part of the group. I remember being part of a Pre-OT club in undergrad and we did a lot of service type volunteer events and it ended up being a really nice way to connect with members of the organization as well as help out our community.
If we get more than 10 people interested I can register us as a group, if we have less we can just have everyone register individually. This is the website for more info https://ebrpd.samaritan.com/custom/501/opp_details/11985
