Saba Kamal is a Certified Hand Therapist. She graduated from India and completed her fellowship training at Texas Woman’s University under the guidance of Dorit Aaron, Charles Costello and later Dr. David Lichtman. She served as the President of the California State Chapter of ASHT in the years 2010 and 2011. Under her leadership, the chapter received the “State Chapter of the Year” award from ASHT.

Saba served as the Annual Program Chair for the Hand Therapy Association of California conferences from 2011 to 2019. Besides hosting great speakers at the conference, she herself presented at all the conferences held. The list of topics can be found on her website. HandsOnCareTherapy.com

She has presented at American Association of Hand Surgery meeting on Neuropathic Pain in 2018 in AZ. In 2019, she hosted a panel discussion at the International Federation of Societies of Hand Therapists in Germany entitled. “A Conceptual Model of Neurodynamics with Soft Tissue Mobilization for Assessment and Management” on a panel that included Dr. Elisabet Hagert, Dr. Catherine Curtin and Ashim Bakshi.

She was invited to speak at American Society for Peripheral Nerve in Feb 2019 on Nerves and the Use of Electrical Stimulation. She also presented at the American Association of Surgery of Hand September 2019 in Las Vegas in a panel discussion on distal radius fractures. She has presented several topics at the American Society of Shoulder and Elbow Therapists meetings including:

Management of Stiff Elbow, Brachial Neuritis with Scapular Dyskinesis and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Nerve Complications after Distal Biceps Repair: Radial Nerve and Lacertus Syndrome this year.

She authored a chapter on Reasoning and Critical Thinking in Hand and Upper Extremity Rehab for the textbook “Fundamentals of Hand Therapy”, and some of her splint ideas were published by Orthotics for the Hand and Upper Extremity: Splinting Principles and Process.

She currently teaches Hands-On Courses on the Upper Quadrant through Advanced Rehab Seminars and mentors students at her two private practice clinics in San Jose, CA.
