Marsha Lawrence earned her B.S. in Physical Therapy from the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago in 1978.  She earned her CHT in 1991 and her DPT from Arcadia University in PA in 2017.  She has practiced in a variety of settings including Burn Care in at Cook County Hospital and University of Chicago 

Hospitals, Pediatrics at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Hand Rehabilitation at the Curtiss National Hand Center, University of Massachusetts, Fallon Health Care in Worcester, MA, University of Iowa Health and private practice in suburban Kansas City. She authored “Orthopedic Management of the Wrist Hand “ in Fundamental Orthopedic Management for the Physical Therapist Assistant, in 2011, 2016 and has recently submitted an update for an upcoming edition; and co-authored a clinical practice guideline for conservative management of carpal tunnel syndrome and “Therapists management of nerve compressions at the wrist” in the Seventh edition of Rehabilitation of the Hand.  She is presently the payment and practice chair of the APTA Hand Academy and also serves as their Federal Affairs Liaison.  She has also recently been named to the APTA Public Policy and Advocacy Committee.

Dr. Markison is an experienced and innovative Hand Surgeon and UCSF Clinical Professor of Surgery with more than 30 years of experience maintaining the creative hands of creative people. He is widely known and trusted for fair and thoughtful resolution of complex medicolegal matters.

 Dr. Markison is particularly interested in the ergonomics of music, arts and crafts, and himself is a musician and artist. He received his B.A. in Biology from Columbia University and his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School. Dr. Markison completed his surgical residency at UCSF, where he then completed his hand surgery fellowship. He remained in San Francisco to continue his microsurgical training at the Buncke Clinic. From 1981-1989 Dr. Markison served as the Chief of Hand Surgery/Trauma Team Surgeon. He is currently a Clinical Professor of Surgery at UCSF and an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Jaret Butler, MD is now in his 11th year of practice at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation. His practice focuses on pathology from the fingertip to the elbow. After growing up in Ohio, his schooling and training then continued throughout the Midwest, South and East Coast. Dr. Butler is an orthopedic surgeon at heart but gravitated specifically to hand and upper extremity to expand his breadth of surgical and clinical expertise, while taking care of a diverse patient population.

Dr. Slikker III always had an interest in upper extremity surgery, even early on as a medical student. He graduated from the Stanford University School of Medicine in 2010, then completed his residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.

During medical school and residency training, Dr. Slikker participated in several medical outreach trips in Kenya, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic. Dr. Slikker continued his education with fellowship training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Dr. Slikker works in San Leandro, CA and 1 other location and specializes in Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Slikker is affiliated with Kaiser Permanente Medical Center-San Leandro.
